Cruz de Cantera Plaza

Architectural and urban design

Location: León, Guanajuato.

Year: 2014

The design for this new urban space takes the Santa Cruz Temple as the source and focal point of the plaza, from which a new topography fits the plot and highlight the main view, which is the confluence of the two streets. From this point, the main pedestrian access is located and several floor lines converge with the Temple columns. A green slope with new vegetation separates the plaza from the street and accommodates the urban furniture. The playground area is located at the end of the plaza. A linear garden box divides the Temple from the Plaza and guards the night reflectors. During the construction process, three more plots were acquire at the rear end, which lead to propose a new access from this point, integrated with the rest of the design.
