IMSS T1 Pedestrian Bridge

Architectural design

Location: León, México

Year: 2011

This pedestrian bridge will link a shopping mall to a side access to IMSS T1 Clinic, in Leon, one of the most visited in the city. The footbridge bearing span is 25 m across the Blvd. Paseo de los Insurgentes. The design join up two ramps in both extremes for an easier pedestrian and cyclist access, and it is solved with a steel structure on 3 intermediate supports, the middle one placed on the median strip, in order to decrease the height and cost of the main structure beam. Two slender consoles on raw concrete work as basement on both extremes and generate a circular drill through which the people walk, adding hierarchy and plastic design.
