Educational Center Las Joyas

Architectural design

Location: Las Joyas, León

Year: 2011

The Educational Center Las Joyas is located in a very poor area at the northwest of the city. The plot is to be found inside a low housing complex endowment area. The architectural program includes a kindergarden and primary school Buildings, a couple of multi-purpose auditoriums, day-care center, sport facilities and parking area. The construction is foreseen to begin with the kindergarden and primary building in a first phase, and gradualy built the remaining parts of the complex. The volumes are stepped and linked as integrated but independent functional pieces. Low cost maintenance materials were chosen, such as raw concrete and hollow bricks. The day-care center totally accomplishes the strict space structure, finishes and electric and hydraulic systems requirements, established by IMSS(Social Security Mexican Institute). This sort of facilities, in such deprived area, would have a huge impact in the inhabitant’s living-condition improvement.
